Week 2: This week we finished combing through and collecting data on the archaeofauna specimens of interest at MSC. While working in pod two at MSC, we identified beaver remains previously identified as unknown fauna. From the data collected, we created a list of archeological sites located on or near the Gulf of Maine so that we can make an appointment at the NAA (National Anthropological Archive) to look at any possible notes taken during the collection. We also continued library research into Maine’s history, past and current relationship with indigenous peoples, and the fur trade by utilizing the Anthropology library located at the Natural History Museum. We also took a little break and stopped at the butterfly pavilion located inside the Natural History Museum. See image gallery below!
